Do you see it? Princess’ first ponytail!
We also have to tell you this story about Prince.
When I went to pick him up from preschool on Friday, I was chatting with his teacher and Prince was standing beside me, holding my hand. I looked up when I heard someone calling his name, and about five other preschool girls were standing in a group, waving at him and giggling to each other. I watched in stunned amazement as they suddenly broke ranks and rushed at him, smothering him with hugs, kisses, and caresses on the cheek. He silently accepted this abuse, a small grin on his face, before I could disband them and his teacher ordered them back to the play area.
I had only a few moments to relax before round two! They came at him again, arms and lips at the ready. Again, Prince’s teacher and I worked to defend the Prince from their amorous attacks.
When the girls tried for a third time, I actually stepped in front of him and told them very sternly, “No!”
Prince waved at them shyly from behind my leg as we retreated.
I walked home in a daze. What was that all about? Does that happen a lot? Should I be worried?
We make jokes about fighting boys off with a stick in defense of our beautiful Princess, but I think we have a much bigger problem to face, and much sooner than we expected.
That’s it, then. Prince will not date until he is 30 and living in his own castle. 🙂
