Ready to see some more pictures of Sweet Pea? Of course you are.
Prince made the transition well from hugging and kissing my belly to hugging and kissing Sweet Pea. He adores her. He always asks where she is, he helps to change her, he shouts in excitement, “She’s awake! She’s looking at me!” and when she cries, he calls out, “Don’t cry! I’m coming!” He wants to change his Puppy’s diaper in the same way we change Sweet Pea, and he holds, rocks, and feeds Puppy the same way. It is really touching to see how nurturing and loving he is. The only thing that he’s not too happy about is the constant answer of “In just a minute, after I finish changing/feeding/burping Sweet Pea.” Since the younger two sleep so much, though, Prince still gets quite a bit of one-on-one time with each of us.
Princess screamed out “bee-bee!” when we walked in the door with Sweet Pea, but her fascination is sporadic and short-lived. She likes looking at Sweet Pea asleep in her crib, and she runs up pointing and shouting “bee-bee, bee-bee!” when she sees me feeding her. She has also started leaning in to kiss Sweet Pea very gently on the head, even though her pokes and touches can get a little vigorous. But when we put Princess next to Sweet Pea for a picture, her screams become “NO!” and she squirms away. It’s amazing how much of a big girl she seems now in comparison. She looks bigger and acts older than ever before, and it’s hard to believe she’s only nineteen months. We’re actually quite proud of her reaction so far, and I’m sure the day will come when she can’t imagine ever not having a little sister.
Now an attempt at a picture of all the kids. Don’t hold your breath for a picture of the five of us, though. That’s going to take lot of planning, bribing, and praying.
