Samaritan’s Purse has been running a project called Operation Christmas Child since 1993 where people pack toys and hygiene items into shoeboxes and wrap them, and then the boxes get shipped to some of the remotest places in the world to make children smile.
I participated in this a few times before we moved overseas, but we wanted to make it a holiday tradition for our children so that they would always consider this season a time of giving.
Prince, Princess, and Sweet Pea had a wonderful time picking things out to put in their boxes.
They didn’t so much like the idea that the things they were picking out weren’t for them. But that lesson will come later.
