In Australia, the adolescent Aborigines would undergo a “walkabout” and live on their own in the wilderness for a few months as a passage into adulthood, tracing the songlines of their ancestors.
My oldest two aren’t adolescents yet (thank GOD!) but we did go walking in the wilderness.
Or at least our neighborhood park looks like the wilderness when you zoom in correctly and bring the mountains into the background.
I will use this last picture when they are adolescents to prove that they really do love each other.
