Preschool Update: Dinosaur Unit Field Trip

ladyherndon Colorado, Home

We discovered a treasure with my Uncle Scott when we were living here before: the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center. For such a small space, they have amazing exhibits and wonderful fossils. Just like the Genie in Aladdin, this place packs a lot into a tiny space.

We have been talking for awhile about when we can get back up there, and once we settled on Memorial Day weekend, while my mom was staying with us, I knew we had to study dinosaurs that week in preschool.

So we went to the library and checked out every single children’s book about dinosaurs (and we ended up with some doozies, let me tell you!) , made a moveable dinosaur craft, played with the Tub o’ Dinosaurs, watched The Land Before Time in ten minute segments online, did dinosaur worksheets, and danced around the living room to Walk the Dinosaur.

Then the culmination of this unit was our field trip to the dinosaur museum in Woodland Park.

Prince’s favorite:

I like this movie poster because the T-Rex has little fists.
