A Birthday to Blog About

ladyherndon Colorado, Home

You know, last year was the big one. (The big Three-Oh!) So this year didn’t matter too much to me. I had planned a Girls’ Night Out with my two aunts, my mom, and two sisters (one was out-of-state), but Colorado weather is as unpredictable as a pregnant lady (ha ha) and dumped a huge amount of snow that night. We had nearly two foot high drifts in our yard! So much for plans. Hopefully we can re-schedule for later this year and get absolutely everyone this time.

The upside? Lord Herndon had a snow day, and he spent the entire day making me feel special. He got up early and made breakfast for all of us. He let me take as long as I wanted in the shower. (!) After lunch, he took the kids for the entire afternoon, ran errands, let them play, got me presents, and even ordered our dinner from a restaurant and brought it home that evening for a candlelit dinner. Then, he topped it all off by conducting The Bedtime Routine completely by himself, so that I had even more precious moments of Me-Time.

So what does a pregnant mother of three young ones do with so much time to herself? I have to admit, I was so giddy at first, when I was in the house alone, that I just stood there in the living room grinning, thinking of all of the things I could possibly do.

I read. I sewed. I snacked. I went to the bathroom by myself. (!) I emailed. I blogged. I watched several episodes of a new, addicting TV series online (Once Upon a Time). I thoroughly enjoyed the solitude.

Maybe you are thinking that is a strange thing to want on your birthday, to be alone. For me, Me-Time and Adult-Time (with friends and with Lord Herndon) are my biggest pregnant woman cravings. Probably because I know those moments will be even more fleeting when our household becomes six.

Thank you to my beloved, devoted husband, Lord Herndon, for making this possible for me. Thank you, God, for letting it snow so that he could make it possible.
