You Thought We Were Crazy Before…

So … you thought we were out of our minds, moving and living overseas with babies? There is no limit to our craziness. Check out this set up:

You see, we have wanted nice bikes since we were married. We had never been able to get them until last year, when I used the profits from my Etsy store to surprise Lord Herndon with a new bike for each of us for Christmas.

Well, that was about the time we found out that our family of five would soon become a family of six. Of course, this being my fourth pregnancy, I don’t have many new questions for my doctor. Except I was quick to ask him how long I could ride my new bike. (He said until my water broke!)

You can imagine that it was not long after when Lord Herndon and I started scheming about how we could go on long family bike rides. Prince has his own bike with training wheels (soon to be removed) and Princess has a tricycle, but let’s be honest: a trip to the park or around a block or two is about as far as they can go. To be able to plan an extended ride, we’d have to come up with something else. So after much scouring of the internet, particularly craigslist, we came across these gems. A two-person Chariot trailer (converts into a jogging stroller if I am so inclined) and two Novara Trail-A-Bikes (we got the second one for $20 when we offered to take both).

Right now, the girls sit in the trailer, and Prince rides a Trail-A-Bike. In fact, the girls cuddle each other and fall asleep, and we have to drag Prince off at the end of a ride, they all love their vehicles so much. This caravan you see pictured is how Lord Herndon loves on me by taking all three kids out of my hair for a while.

I did pull the caravan myself on a short ride. Once.

I won’t be doing that again until after Baby Boo comes.

I think it might induce labor.

Now, we ride to church with Prince attached to my bike and Lord Herndon pulling the trailer. Eventually, Baby Boo and Sweet Pea will ride in the trailer, which will be attached to Princess’ Trail-A-Bike, which is attached to Lord Herndon’s bike. I will continue to pull Prince, at least until he can keep up on his own bike.

And that is how we ride through town and get a lot of stares.
