I was waiting to do this post when I could get a recording of Alex’s testimony, but I haven’t yet so I’m going to update this later.
This has been a big year for our first born. He turned 10, had a special father-son trip to Breckenridge with Mike, and was baptized!
Alex has been asking about being baptized since December. He even came down Christmas morning and the first thing he said was that he had a dream last night where he had flown to Bethlehem and Mary had let him hold baby Jesus. It was a powerful vision for him, and he talked about it, among many other things, when we met our church’s sponsored missionaries, Stephan and Sandra Tibi, who live and work in South Africa. Stephan in particular spent much of the evening talking to Alex and really helped him begin to understand the difference between distracting imaginative things and the creative power of the imagination in God’s service.
So when our church began promoting a spring baptism service, Alex asked again, and his persistence and self-awareness let our Children’s Ministry Director and Lead Pastor to spend time talking with him about the true meaning of baptism. They were convinced by his determination and understanding, so Mike worked with Alex to prepare his testimony.
We invited almost 30 family members and friends to come support Alex, and we were all blown away by what he said. He truly seeks after God and has a heart to follow Him. I was so proud!
