On our second scheduled 14er weekend, we decided to do a two-for-one in Mt. Belford and Mt. Oxford. We overslept a bit and got a later start, but it also took us a lot longer than we expected it to (are we getting old?!)
These mountains had the most columbine flowers I’ve ever seen in the wild! Whole hillsides covered in them, and in white, magenta, and the traditional periwinkle blue.
We also had a mountain goat walk the trail literally right past us! First, we thought we were close to him here.
Then he walked right behind Mike!
Poor guy needed a good brushing. His winter coat was hanging off him in layers.
Beautiful colors of flowers too!
We accidentally dressed like twins!
On the summit of Mt. Belford, we looked over at Mt. Oxford (in the back over Mike’s shoulder) and texted our babysitter to make sure it was ok for us to walk the saddle and do that one too. She said she was fine, and the kids were loving it at her new house with their two horses, two kittens, and three dogs. So we did it.
And today must have been our lucky day, because we saw a marmot up close and personal.

And we were stumbling back to the car at 8:00 pm that night. Such a long day. But now I’m at 19 under my belt and Mike has 11. Pretty good, I’d say!
