It’s February! The time of year when we wish my birthday came in the summer (we’re always stone-cold broke in February), we celebrate the day Mike proposed (V-Day itself!), and the kids’ school seems to have all of their huge events at once. Art Show, Orchestra Concert, and my favorite: the Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser.
Of course, with three kids this was bound to happen, but I had one kid competing in each time slot, so Theo and I were there All. Day.
Evelyn started us off with a bang. They encourage the kids to run 30-35 laps each year, and she owned it by running 40!
Next up was Alex. He had trouble last year with dry, itchy legs, a few too many walking laps, and a bathroom break that used up the rest of his time. So this year, I encouraged him to shoot for 25 laps. He persevered and ran 26!
Theo and I walked home for lunch, (nearly fell asleep on the couch), and then headed back to watch Penny run.
Now Penny, she blew us all away. She ran a whopping 53 laps!
But let’s not forget the superstar of the whole day: Theo! He ran with both Evelyn and Penny, so he ran the furthest of all! The sweet teachers noticed this little boy running past the check point with such determination, lap after lap, that they started putting dots on his hand. I was so proud of him, and he loved every minute of it! He can’t wait to be in school.
