Manitou Springs Penny Arcade

With the plan to see as many local attractions as possible before we move overseas again, whenever that is, we cashed in a bunch of dollar bills for quarters and took the kids to the Manitou Springs Penny Arcade for the afternoon.

With some games dating back to the 1930’s, this “penny” arcade (officially called “Arcade Amusements in Manitou”) is a retro dream! I use the word “penny” loosely because most games cost 50 cents. I was shocked at how quickly the coins ran out. Still, it was very fun and something we’ve never done before.

Penny wanted to use her pennies in the Penny Pincher to make a souvenir penny. And I just wanted to write that sentence.

Evelyn got to bring her friend McKenna with her for the afternoon.

We kept all our coins in my fun Admit One: Ticket purse from ipsy.

I think the name “Penny Arcade” is a misnomer! Most games were either $.25 or $.50 to play. We burned through those quarters so quickly.

On our walk back to the car, we had to check out this tree in the nearby park.

And test the healing properties of the mineral springs that Manitou Springs is named for.

I thought it tasted like Perrier. The kids thought it tasted gross. Oh well!

What a fun way to spend the afternoon doing something new in a city we’ve lived in for so long. I hope we have the opportunity to have many more “Bucket List” adventures like this before we leave.
