Facing the prospect of not being able to go back to Colorado for the summer, we were sensitive to homesickness and a feeling of depression and anxiety, a sense of being trapped, since March when the school moved completely to online learning and we faced multiple lock downs and quarantines. We needed to get out of the city and breathe some mountain air, so we loaded up the car and drove out west to the Carpathians, meeting several other families for a week and a half of adventures.

The very first day we were there, our friend Shannon organized a Fourth of July celebration at her AirBnB, complete with a bbq, a friendly competition for all the kids, sports, music, and laughter.
