Science Experiments and Surprises

For our Game Night, we decided to play a scientific “guess the color” game with Prince. We boiled a purple cabbage and saved the water, which was a deep purple. We put the purple water into three glasses.

Then we had Prince add some baking soda to one glass and guess what color it would turn. He did and then proudly announced it was now blue!

Next, Prince added some lemon juice to another glass.

He made several tries at the color and even pronounced “magenta” very well, but as we tried to hint him toward pink by asking “What does Princess like to wear?” his answer floored us.

“Underwear.”

This was only the humorous end to an already funny day. At school, I read this from one of my sixth graders:

“I’m can’t small the writes.”

Translation?

“I couldn’t make the font smaller.”

Finally, I graded a textbook page where the students were supposed to fill in the blank with the correct spelling of a word ending in “y.” Instead of “I think large families are more fun than small ones,” one seventh grader wrote “I think large monkeys are more fun than small ones.”

Yes, I did give him credit for it!
