Island Hopping Continues

ladyherndon Home, Turkey

This Saturday dawned clear, cold, and sunny, and we heard the call from the islands again. This time, we explored Buyukada, the biggest island. We had been there once last summer on our first weekend, looking for a church to attend. The situation hardly called for a long walk, though, since we were in our church clothes! We came more prepared this time and even found a few new surprises.

Halfway around the short tour of the island, we took a steep walk up to the Ayia Yorgi Church and Monastery dating back to the 6th century, found what looked like a pirate grave, and then the most exciting part of all: Prince’s first ride!

Not on a horse, but something more his size. A donkey.

He loved it! He couldn’t let us leave before he said good-bye.
