What better way to welcome Grandma and Uncle to Turkey than with a Herndon-style Turkish breakfast and a ferry cruise all the way up the Bosphorus? Grandma kept reaching behind her ear to make sure her anti-seasickness patch was still in place, but I think they enjoyed themselves.
We made sure to sample the famous Kanlıca yoghurt (with powdered sugar stirred in).
At the last stop in Anadolu Kavağı, we disembarked and hiked up the very steep hill to the ruins of the Anadolu Kavağı Kalesi, a Byzantine castle.
I think it was later that night, when Grandma and Uncle S were sitting on the couch with their sore feet up, that they started to wonder what they had gotten themselves into. They did mention a wide variety of activities and sites that they would be interested in doing/seeing during their 10 days with us. Whether they knew it would start off with such a bang is another story altogether.
If they only knew what we have in store for them…
Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!
