Aspen Glory

ladyherndon Colorado, Home

The weekend before the official beginning of Autumn (September 22), we took a road trip through our beautiful state to chase down the best groves of golden aspen trees we could find. This tree is often used as a symbol of Colorado, and it is our favorite. It was one of the things we missed the most while overseas, and autumn just didn’t feel quite like autumn when we couldn’t see their leaves changing. So it was a sort of homecoming for us to drive through the state and revel in the beauty of fall.

It was a lot of driving, so everyone took their turn at the wheel.

We stopped Saturday night at my mother’s house in Montrose and spent the night and the next day with her. It was fun to go to my old Lutheran church and say hi to old friends. Then we hit the road again for more aspens on our way home.

Our own little Prince had a great time learning about what the change in seasons meant, and he took some amazing pictures of his own.
