The Hill

One of the selling (er, renting) features of our house was the beautifully landscaped and well-cared-for backyard.

Well, no. Not really.

Actually, one of the first things Lord Herndon said when he saw the house for the first time was “The backyard needs a LOT of work.”

Well, yes. That’s where you come in. See the brilliance of my plan? I picked a house that was a project. I look out the back windows and I see … an opportunity.

So on the last day of 2010, Lord Herndon put his Christmas present to work and starting shaving The Hill.

A friendly neighbor spotted him from his lofty position and brought his own trimmer over to help. Don’t you just love a community?

I looked at that hill and thought to myself, Self? That would make a perfect sledding hill. And wouldn’t you know? The storm that kept Grandma Marlene from coming to visit us for New Year’s provided us with just the solid precipitation we needed to test our Hill.

Oops! Lord Herndon is equipped with safety goggles, but not Prince.

He recovered quickly and wanted to go down again and again.

Sweet Pea and I did our part to participate: we stayed inside and took pictures.
