I found out today that Dame Elizabeth Taylor died. I have only watched a few of her films (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Cleopatra, and The Taming of the Shrew, and all of those with my mother, who shared my sorrow). It is certainly true that Liz Taylor led a controversial life, with seven husbands (one of them she married twice) and many struggles with drugs and alcohol.
But what I will remember her for are her performances, her beauty, and her grace. The way she stole the scene, even from a young age, even if she wasn’t in the lead role.
She was wonderful.
