7 Years of Wedded Bliss

Sometimes, when your original plan has to change due to circumstances beyond your control, you end up having more fun doing the unexpected.

For our seven year anniversary, we wanted to have Kathryn and Kenzie, our beloved teenage babysitters, come to stay the night so Lord Herndon and I could hike two 14ers that day. But then one kid got sick, then another, and another, and by the time our actual anniversary came around, I had been cleaning up carpets, clothing, and diapers for almost two weeks. It just wasn’t fair to invite the girls into our contaminated home when they would be starting school the next day. What’s more, Grandma Beth and Papa Steve were here and wanted to take us out for dinner, but they were also nervous of catching the stomach bug we were all passing around.

Thankfully, we all felt semi-good on Monday, and Lord Herndon made sure to take the day off. So he had a wonderful idea: pack a picnic, drive up to Breckenridge, and rent bicycles and trailers for the day. We had an amazing time riding up to Frisco and back through aspen woods, fields of wildflowers, and up and down hills, with the kids giggling in the trailers all the while.
