While Matt and Charis were here, we went up to hear the Burpo family speak about their son Colton’s experience in heaven. Colton’s father wrote about the family’s experience in their book Heaven is for Real. My sister Deborah recommended this book to me, and it was so popular that I couldn’t get it at the library for months. She sent me her copy and I read it in a night … a very late night, but nevertheless, one night. Then Lord Herndon read it. Then my other friends. Then Matt, while they were here. So when we heard that the family would be in Denver, we decided to go see them for ourselves. Unfortunately, the event wasn’t what I hoped. It was more of a production and less personal than I expected. But the book itself is powerful. Whether or not you agree with the specifics of what he saw, there are several messages in this book that are very real and very uplifting.
1. Jesus loves the children.
2. It is important to know Jesus here on earth.
3. Heaven is real.
On our way back home, we asked Prince if he was excited to go to heaven, and he said yes. We asked “Why are you excited to go to heaven?”
Prince said: “That’s the place Jesus lives.”
