Stories I Hope They Tell

I don’t know what made me think of this, but I have come up with a few stories that I hope our kids tell when they are older:

“When I was a kid, my mom had this Magic Cupboard. It had all sorts of supplies in it for crafts: bottles of paint, pompoms, pipe cleaners, felt, sequins, glitter, glue, paper, stickers…anything you could possibly need. Whenever she opened it up, we knew something magical was going to happen. It was the creation that mattered, not the mess.”

“I’ll always remember Kindergarten because I got to ride in my dad’s car and hang out in his room with him before school started. He had so many cool Transformers that he used for his class, and we used to have battles and change them from vehicle to robot and back again, over and over. He really listened to me and made me feel special.”

“We never had much money growing up, or even a TV, so I never really knew what I was missing as far as all of the new toys and shows. I never felt cheated, though, because when we did get something, we knew it was special. Some of my favorite toys were my parents’ when they were a kid!”

So as I continue to think of more, what stories do you hope your kids tell when they are older?
