Today we capped off Rocks, Plants and Animals week with a visit to the Denver Zoo (care of Aunt Cynthia), and later, the Botanic Gardens.
The kids love the Denver Zoo, even though we’ve only been here twice, years ago. They were very excited to see the animals that were different than we have at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
The new baby sea lion, Gunnison, was a big hit. The kids asked why the mother sea lion was just sitting in the sun while Gunnison played around and flopped on her. I said she was a tired mommy who was trying to get some “me time.” There were quite a few moms around us who laughed in agreement!
Aunt Cynthia was so gracious to let us use her guest passes to get in, and she even carried Theo around near the end. When we finally left I was shocked to see we had been walking around for 3 hours! I didn’t think the kids would last that long, but as I’ve said all summer, these things are good practice for Disneyland!
