Penny turned 5 today! This is our party year, so she decided she wanted a pool party. She also got her ears pierced, which she has been dying to do for the last 18 months, since she saw Evelyn get hers done when she turned 5.
Even though most of our friends here couldn’t make it, we got to see a ton of family, my sweet friend Nicole, and have a lot of fun to celebrate my little Sweet Pea. She was thrilled and told me it was “just the best day ever!”
We started off the day with a surprise from Mike: while I was sleeping in to recover from a night-long work session, he was rebuilding our play set!
Now, last spring, when my Etsy store was skyrocketing with Frozen orders, we bought this off craigslist from a gentleman in Denver, and the kids absolutely loved it. It was as good as going to a park every day, and it really saved me over the summer having all four kids at home, trying to keep up with all of those Etsy orders!
This is what it looked like after Evelyn told me “the slide blew over.” I thought she meant our small plastic Little Tyke slide (the blue and yellow one above). I was so wrong.
Apparently, the wind caught it just right under the roof, or it was in a particularly vulnerable position in relation to the house, but there it was. And yes, it was staked, you can see them sticking out from the bottom.
Even though we moved it to our new rental, it took us a long time to be able to work on it again. So I was thrilled to see this when I woke up!
Then it was off to the pool for the rest of the day.
She was much more interested in her huge lollipop than she was in her cake.
Penny was so blessed with gifts for her doll, Kaya. Despite three different families buying her Kaya-gear, and none of them coordinating, they all managed to pick something different! She was so happy!
I couldn’t resist a matching dress for her and Kaya, in the girls’ favorite theme. Très chic!
We ended Penny’s special day by having a sleepover with her cousin, Grace. They were dancing to Beyoncé in the backyard and stayed up way too late playing dolls.
Happy Birthday, Miss Penny!
