Cross country season is over. It was short and sweet, only 6 weeks.
The last two cross country meets got cancelled due to rain and lightning, but we enjoyed them once we got the hang of it and I was proud of the kids each time. Plus, it made it a lot easier to find them once they finally got their shirts!
Now Alex is getting ready to test for his orange belt in karate, Penny is in ballet, and I finally got Evelyn in a spot for gymnastics. I’m really making an effort to let them try new things, because it’s not what I’m used to from my own childhood, whereas Mike is. I was in TaeKwon-Do and NJROTC, but that’s it. Mike was in track, football, golf club, band, choir…and I’m sure I’m forgetting something. So it’s been a discussion in our marriage about what our kids should do, and what we can afford. The hard thing for me is that, due to Mike’s teaching schedule, I am the one who will have the responsibility to get them dressed and ready, drive them to and fro, remember everyone’s schedule. It’s a lot for me to do that. But I’m really trying because I want them to have a good mix of experiences, whenever we can manage it.
