So, update: Alex is in karate. Theo is in soccer. Penny will start ballet up again soon. And Evelyn wants to do either ballet or gymnastics. (All through the Y, all at our family rate, all during times we’re there anyway for my workouts … totally doable).
So why not try one more? The kids always ask to go with me on my runs, only to start crying after one block. I thought cross country would be a great sport to get them trained to run! And luckily, all three of my school kids can do it.
With practice one night a week and meets one night a week, it’s not a big ask. So far, they like it. The only tricky part for me was figuring out how to watch Evelyn run at the same time I’m supposed to be picking Penny up at the finish line! I’ll do better next time.
See Penny in this one? She’s wearing a pink shirt, pink and black shorts, and pink and black shoes. Oooh yeah, we’re stylin’ when we go runnin’.
Alex ran the whole course and even sprinted through the finish line. Awesome!
They get a ribbon of completion after every meet. Pretty good motivation!
I’ll get better pics next time now that I know the drill. Of course, Theo kept his fingers in his ears the entire time we were there because of the gun they use to start the race. In face, his fingers stayed in his ears all the way back to the car. He just would not believe me that the shooting was done!
