One day, as we were parking at the gym, Evelyn saw a sign advertising this year’s Turkey Trot (5k race on Thanksgiving morning) and asked if I was going to run it again. I answered in a sad voice that no, I didn’t think so because Daddy broke his foot and was still wearing a walking boot, my bestie Nicole had already moved to Ireland with her family, my local friend Beth wasn’t able to because she was hosting a gathering of friends that day, and I had no one else to run with. She piped up right away: “I’llĀ run with you Mommy!”
It was so sweet! So I agreed, and we invited Penny too. And that’s how this happened:
I made the skirts out of a sequin metallic knit, and we found purple and pink cold-weather running gear to help us brave the icy winds! Even so, I encouraged Evelyn the whole way and Penny had an amazing cheerful attitude and we literally chased her across the finish line.
Even though I missed running with my hubby, it was sweet to run as a Girl Power Team and be cheered on by our men!
