I debuted this dress at church today! I made myself try something new with this one, a very demure neckline with a pointed collar and long sleeves, and I didn’t add length to the bodice but just sewed it straight from the envelope, except that I did add pockets.

One thing I really like is the two-part sleeves, which I’ve never done before. I appreciate now what other people have said about two-part sleeves being a more professional, tailored fit.

I used this beautiful, rose patterned stable knit with a velvety texture, from my Grandma’s stash (of course!).  It sewed really well and pressed into nice corners. It is a nude color on the wrong side so I didn’t need to line any part of the dress.

I really like it as a bit of variety in my normal dress line-up, but I think I would actually love it if I had lengthened the bodice by about 2″ because the waistline is just too high for me.

Still, I’ll wear it a lot! I do like that it doesn’t wrinkle at all and it’s very warm.
