On our last day in Iceland, we took some pics of the Lutheran church Hallgrímskirkja before leaving Reykjavik. I was struck by the contemporary look of it, but it was actually inspired by the basalt columns
of the Svartifoss waterfall in South Iceland. The statue in the front is of Leif Eriksson.
We had some time before our reservations at the Blue Lagoon, so we drove south to the little fishing of village of Grindavík and ate a wonderful lunch there at Papa’s Restaurant.
And finally, our epic Iceland trip culminated in an afternoon soaking in the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon. We sipped our drinks, plastered mud masks on our faces, and tried not to lose each other in foggy steam and muffled whispers of the almost extra-planetary geothermal spa.
