Warwick Castle

We started the day with a preemptive strike: take the kids to an indoor trampoline park first to burn off some of their energy before more exploring in the afternoon.

After several hours of bouncing and a lunch, we drove to Warwick Castle.

I have visited a fair few castles in my time, particularly when I studied abroad in Scotland for a semester during college and went on a bike tour of the country, but I’ve never before seen a castle with so many different things to do and such extensive grounds. We started by completing the maze.

Then we explored the great hall and interior of the castle. Warwick is owned by The Tussauds Group of the more famous Madame Tussauds, so the castle was staged with incredibly life-like historical figures. It was also intricately decorated for the season with themed Christmas trees in different rooms. We loved the Nutcracker trees and the decorations made from antique sheet music.

Mike and I were able to explore on our own for a bit while Rebekah and John took the kids to a story time, and we loved having the space and peace to look at details we would normally miss while surrounded by the kids.

Next we watched a Winter Birds of Prey Show before climbing the battlements. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring more of the castle grounds.
