HP Winter Tour: York and The Shambles

The last stop on our Harry Potter Winter Tour was York, where the ancient medieval street called The Shambles, the inspiration for Diagon Alley, can be found.

We started our exploration of York by visiting Yorkminster Cathedral.

The sun went down early, so we were able to explore the York Christmas Market soon after leaving the cathedral.

The next morning, we indulged ourselves in every single magical shop we could find in the Shambles, the real-life medieval street that inspired Rowling’s Diagon Alley.

We left York before we were able to explore the walls, the museums, and the ruins that we wanted to, but that just means we’ll have to make another trip someday soon! We drove down to Cambridge to meet the Pauls for ice skating and dinner to celebrate Evelyn’s 11th birthday. It was a fun trip to celebrate her turning the same age as Harry when his world changed.
