Catching our Breath in Kamyanets-Podilsky

During the quarantine, our school had taken a survey and decided to split our Spring Break into three long weekends to give parents, students, teachers, and staff a lot of little breaks instead of one longer one. We didn’t leave Kyiv during the first two, but took a quick trip down to Kamyanets-Podilsky for the last one. It was a much-needed escape from the city and a safe trip for us, but a bit bittersweet as well since we had originally planned to return to K-P for their hot air balloon festival in mid-May (which, of course, was cancelled).

Even though it rained most of the time while we were there, we made a point of hiking and exploring the beautiful ruins, canyon, and landscape as much as we could.

We stumbled across a rather alarming amount of snails (as I said, constant rain!) and found quite a romantic pair “dancing” together.

We drove down to Khotyn one day to explore the fortress there, standing guard over the Dniester River.

Mike has really enjoyed practicing with his DJI Mavic Platinum Pro drone as much as possible, and his videos just get better and better.

And in the evenings, we continued our newest family hobby: playing D&D. The Pauls got us hooked over Christmas break and the kids ask to play all the time. It’s a lot to keep in my head at once and I am not the most creative DM, but I do think I’m getting better. Thanks for bringing me back to my roots, Rebekah!
