Today we went down to see Bishop Castle, this crazy building in the Wet Mountains of Colorado. Construction on the castle began in 1969 and it is still evolving. Though I did see a miniature plan of the castle (one I haven’t seen before, though I’ve been here a few times), it still seems like the family just adds rocks of whatever size, wherever they feel like adding them, because there are no straight lines, even on the tall towers!
I am afraid of heights and couldn’t bring myself to go out on the wrought iron pathways that barely hang on to the outside of the castle are safely attached to the outer walls of the castle. Mike took our kids around and I bravely waved at them through the stained glass windows.
The kids were very interested and wanted to explore every stairway and tunnel, even though we’d been here last summer. They also climbed up the shorter tower with Mike, one at a time, but we let him climb the highest one himself.
I swear, I looked up at that tower and it was moving in the breeze. Gah!
Bishop Castle, folks.
