“Electrify Your Strings” Orchestra Concert

The culmination of two years of Orchestra classes and hours of hard work at practice was the “Electrify Your Strings” concert! Mark Wood, one of the co-founders of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, was the sponsor and creator of the EYS program, and we were blown away.

Multiple elementary school orchestra classes came together for a day camp with special instruction from Mark, and then the concert was today. We were so impressed with the way Mark invested in the kids for those two days.

Select kids were asked to step to the front of the stage and play one of the electric instruments that Mark had invented and built, and to our amazement, Alex himself got to play the electric Viper (5-string viola) for one the songs!

We are so proud of our young man, and it means so much to see him happy and confident.

Afterwards, we met Grandma Beth, Papa Steve, Uncle Jim, and Aunt Nancy for dinner at Fargo’s Pizza. What a wonderful night celebrating Alex and all of his musical achievements. He really has worked so hard this year.

I told him we would try to find a viola we can buy when we move to Ukraine. Even though I’m not musical at all, I am more than happy to encourage my kids to pursue it whenever I can.
