Exuberant Intrigue Pants in Bouquet (Butterick 5682)

ladyherndon Saw That, Sew This

And the second project I completed during my Sewing Retreat with my Mom a few weeks ago was this pair of navy floral skinny jeans! Of course this beautiful denim is from my Grandma’s Stash, and I still have enough left over to make a skirt or maybe a jacket. It’s thinner than the other bull denim I inherited and used in my previous jeans, but that made it easier to sew.

Because of the weight I’ve lost over the past 6 months or so (woot woot!), I was able to cut the pattern down a full size smaller than I used last year. I had also learned to extend the zipper down another 1.5″, because even in the line drawing you can see how short it is. So I made that adjustment to the pattern piece and do it every time now.

I have the fit of this pattern down perfectly now, and it’s so nice to know with certainty that I’m going to love the pants when they’re done. My Mom’s Juki is such a beautiful machine. I will have to save up for one someday, maybe after I get an updated serger. In the meantime, I’m so grateful when she let’s me borrow it to bust out yet another pair of jeans!

Happy details!
