I sewed a thing! Two things, actually. Weeks in the making and part of my “Autumn Sewing Plans” [Ha! It’s March] but there you go.
I used Butterick 5997 again since I love the other shirt I made using that pattern. I had just the right amount of this yellow crepe (don’t remember where I got it from) and made View B but without the pocket.
When we first moved here, I did find one fabric store but thought that finding notions would be really difficult. I was worried about having the right buttons or zippers to complete a project. It turned out to be an irrational fear. The stores here have an incredible selection: I just needed to figure out how to see it. I went with Julia to a street next to the circus with three fabric stores in a row, and I was overwhelmed with the amount of beautiful fabric and variety of buttons, zippers, thread and trims. I easily found these cute little buttons for the cuffs of my shirt and the perfect yellow thread for the exact shade of mustard.
I love the fit and the color and have already worn it with other skirts and dress pants.
The skirt was made using Vogue 9267, which is a dress pattern but I wanted the pleats, pockets and waistband. I had this lovely brushed plaid flannel for several years from a shopping trip to Joann with Beth! We both bought some, so I’ll need to ask her if she ended up using it yet. I lined it with a silky navy remnant from Grandma’s Stash and worked hard to match the plaid across the pleats and seams.
I love it but it is definitely a fall skirt to be enjoyed when the weather cools off again.
Yay for some sewing! I had a whole list of things I wanted to sew last autumn, but now it’s sunny and warming up and all I think about are flowing dresses.
