I’ve been following Julia of GalMeetsGlam for a couple years now because I like her style (though she does make me laugh sometimes – what kind of outfit is this?). Since she started designing her own clothing line, I have been inspired to recreate several of her designs when I sew. It’s always nice to have new sources of inspiration!
This lavender dress from April 2018 really caught my eye and I already had Vogue 8645, which looks really similar.
Since I’ve been trying to use fabric from Grandma’s Stash, I found a slightly darker purple polyester blend that would work. Now I just need either the quarantine to lift or some shipments to arrive so I can make fabric-covered buttons for the center front seam.
I changed the shoulder ties and made them long and thin, then tacked the shoulders into pleats and tacked the ties down. I wanted them to look similar to the inspiration dress and I like how they look more delicate.
I even got to fulfill my “fashion blogger” dreams by taking pictures in a beautiful place with fresh cut flowers (from our yard!) that coordinate with my clothes. Ha ha! All photos are thanks to Alex.
Don’t my dress and flowers look pretty with my lovely ring from our 15th anniversary last summer? Mike has such good taste. I am very spoiled.
Sarah,
Your ring is definitely beautiful and I’m very impressed with your sewing ability and enthusiasm!! These are such nice pictures of you, your ring and dress and Mike as well. It appears that Alex is quite the photographer!! Love these pictures he has been taking…they are very good!
Love you guys and have enjoyed staying up on your adventures with the stories on this blog!
Love you all, may God continue to bless you!!

Aunt Rachel
