I really need to learn not to stick my foot in my mouth. All of my adult life, every time I’ve criticized something, I’ve ended up loving it. (Crocs, soy milk, etc.)
Now, after commenting that rompers/jumpsuits reminded me of what kids wear (my own daughters have some and they are super cute!), and that they shouldn’t be worn by grown women, and that they would be so hard to use the bathroom in (still true), here I am, wearing and loving my first jumpsuit.
I’ve really been pushing myself to try new styles lately, so I’m happy that my adventures have been successful. I bought this pattern during a $1.99 sale, among many others, and made myself bring it to the sewing retreat in Breckenridge a few weeks ago. I was just able to finish it yesterday since I ran out of interfacing while on the retreat.
The fabric is some kind of woven from my Grandma’s stash, super soft and drapey, but I have to be careful about wrinkles and tearing holes. It might be some kind of linen.
I love pockets! Everything I’ve made lately has had pockets. Even if I don’t put anything in them (I probably won’t), it’s a useful place to store my hands.
Now that I’ve worn it once, I will go back and take the armholes up higher so that I don’t have to worry about my bra peeking out.
I also stitched down the wrap pieces in the front and back of the bodice. It was so gappy until I did that, so I can’t imagine hone it wouldn’t be necessary every time.
Yay for jumpsuits! I think I’ll do another one soon with the halter style bodice.
