Everyday Optimism Tunic in Teal Garden and Daydreamer Lace Skirt in Fuchsia (Butterick 5889 and Simplicity 8211)

I’n having fun recreating complete looks I find on Pinterest, and here’s another offering! I had saved the original pic long ago, then found the fuchsia pink cotton and dotted pink lace in my Grandma’s Stash. A long time later, I decided on which pattern to use for the skirt (the great, basic Simplicity 8211, which I will use for many more!). Finally, I was at a good place to get some of the floral fabric I had been admiring at Joann’s, and I found this teal floral stretch charmeuse, which was a perfect interpretation of the original shirt. And I used Butterick 5889 from my stash, view C (with 4.5″ cut off the length), which was super easy and fast! Ta-da! The inspiration pic has come to life in two pieces that I can wear with many other things. In particular, I know I will wear the shirt with my pink jeans!

I made the tunic in XS because I don’t really enjoy super loose-fitting clothes. Believe me, it’s still plenty roomy! I love the little cold-shoulder slits. It’s basically all narrow hems and just sewn together at the neckline and arm hems.

The skirt was size 12, and fit my waist perfectly. Plus, I’m loving pockets on almost all my skirts and dresses, and I’m getting really good at putting a pocket on the seam of an invisible zipper.

All these gorgeous colors make this silky tunic go well with everything!

And here I am showing off how I wore this today with the impending rain.
