I have been working on so many Etsy orders, plus unexpected suit-tailoring and a bespoke fancy dress for a couple going on their 25th wedding anniversary cruise, that I haven’t been able to sew for myself in such a long time. It’s making me grouchy! So I stayed up late Friday night to make this two-piece dress out of this gorgeous peachskin that Beth found for me.
The story of the fabric will be told when I finish the striped shirt that goes with the skirt to complete my inspiration-to-reality look. For now, let me just say that I had enough left over to make a blousy tank top, so I frank-en-patterned three different patterns into this “dress.” I used New Look 6510, view A, but cut it where view C and D would be cut, and I left off the back tie. Then I used the waistband from Butterick 5285, and the circle skirt from Simplicity 1606, and lined it with some of my Grandma’s beautiful silky fabric. All together, this equals one dress that I love wearing!
I have an inspiration pic for the skirt, as I said, but I don’t really have one for the two-piece dress. Let’s just say the idea sounded lovely and the colors make me think of Tuscany, Italy (even though I’ve never been).
Someday I will wear this dress to Tuscany. Until then!
