Hear Me Roar Coat in Cheetah (McCall’s 6828)

This coat was the final effort of several years. Theo had asked years ago for a cheetah coat, and it took me awhile to finally make it happen. I found the perfect fabric first at Joann, and then Theo would take the fabric and sleep under it like a blanket. Then I found the black velvet for the accents and the white velvet for the face. I worked on it whenever I could over several years (good thing I cut out a larger size!) and finally finished it.

I lined the coat with some orange lining fabric that I found in Grandma’s stash. I found the black buttons here in Ukraine.

I added pockets to the outside. Of course it obviously needed pockets!

The face is my favorite part, but the tail is pretty high in my regard as well. Theo loves the ears in particular. It was such a great pattern to use!

The hardest part about finally completing this coat is that Theo is actually a bit embarrassed to wear it to school. He is nervous his friends will make fun of him. So I encourage him to wear it whenever possible on the weekends, but it does hurt that he doesn’t wear it much after all the work I put into it. I am happy that I was finally able to finish the coat of his dreams, though. He helped me choose every part of the design and wore it in fragments until it was finally completed.
