Let me explain…
I wanted a yellow dress to wear to Prince’s yellow belt test in TaeKwon Do. This is his first test and he has been working really hard for 8 months to be able to qualify for the next rank, and since so many things in his life right now are difficult, we are making a big deal about this accomplishment. We will be having a birthday party/ yellow party after his test, with yellow food and drink, and everyone wearing yellow. (Then he will stay the night with a friend while Lord Herndon and I secretly decorate his room in Star Wars! tee hee! I am so excited to see his face the first time he walks in the next day).
So, all of that is to say that I wanted a yellow dress. I do have yellow clothing already; I think it looks good on me and it makes me happy. But I wanted to try a whole dress of happiness.
The Sundress of My Life from Modcloth was bright, cheerful, and simple enough, even if the pattern I used isn’t exactly the same. I was also excited to see that I fit into a pattern size 12!
What I didn’t expect, however, was that the dress would be quite so…va-voom! It went from a cheerful sundress to a sexy little date night number. I will have to gather some courage to wear it out, that’s for sure.
Pretty cute though, right? I am still deciding about adding the white buttons down the front like the original.
The yellow denim from Joann’s was a dream to work with, though. After looking for several weeks for a good yellow that was bright, cheerful, comfortable, yet not see-through, I finally found this somewhat stretchy denim. I had coupons and put them to good use, and luckily, this dress didn’t require much fabric. I like how it makes me look so tan. Perk!
Testing the dress out with different cardigans helped, too. I liked the cobalt blue sweater on top. I saw a cobalt skirt with a bright yellow belt on Modcloth and the color combination was so pleasing to me.
So many options! Now I need to listen to my husband and just wear the thing.
