Truth: I love Kate Middleton’s style.

I don’t know much about her personally, and I don’t follow the lives of the royals. I do, however, love what she wears and her influence on fashion. She has proven that you can be beautiful and modest, which is important because it seems like our society has forgotten that. She also seems very happy in her marriage, which is also good for America to see.

As my mom continues to bring car loads of vintage fabric that was my Grandmother’s, I find myself almost panicking from having so many things I want to sew and not enough time to do it. I have a pile of fabric that is just Too Pretty To Pack (my TPTP pile), and it is full of pieces that I am dying to turn into beautiful clothes.

One inspiration that I have had from the Duchess of Cambridge is her lovely lace sheath dresses. As soon as I pulled out a piece of white lace that my Grandma had sewn into a curtain, I knew what I would use it for. I lined the dress with an ivory cotton, since learning that bright white is not the best for my skin tone and I should choose a white with yellow undertones instead.

I stayed up through the night to finish this dress, but it was so beautiful that I couldn’t put it down. I wore it to our church’s Mother/Daughter Brunch today and it became an instant favorite. I haven’t felt so elegant, beautiful, and slim in a long time. It’s the perfect touch of class, modesty, and just a hint of sexy.

I know it is a bit sexy because I had to bring Lord Herndon his lunch today while he was working for the lawn care company and he whistled as soon as he saw me from across the parking lot!

Wouldn’t this dress be perfect to wear to a wedding?

Oh my word, I love it. Love love love.

I will have to make another one, maybe with black lace this time.

And sheath dresses are my friend.
