Another lovely and quick project that I snuck in while the true blue thread was on the serger in between Etsy orders. Shh, don’t tell!
This is view A of Butterick 5929. I found this gorgeous cotton blend fabric in my Grandma’s stash and thought for a long while that I would make it into a (surprise, surprise) dress, with a contrasting bodice for a shirt-and-skirt look. Since I’m still trying to stretch myself and not make only dresses, I went with a skirt that I can still wear with lots of shirts.
The pattern was very easy and the fabric cut and sewed beautifully. It has box pleats, slash pockets, waistline facings, and a back zip. Done!
I didn’t go the whole way with it today but with this shirt, it has a bit of a “Genie DisneyBound” look, if I had worn a red belt and golden shoes.
I liked the other views as well so I think I’ll make several more of these, maybe one in gray and even one out of black “leather”!
