I busted these babies out in one night! They were an experiment of sorts to see how I would do sewing jeans, which is one of my goals this year. I figured out all of the fly front pieces and ended up with a pretty fantastic pair of fitted black chinos!
I used the Amazing Fit Simplicity pattern 1696. I initially cut the size 12 Average, not sure how the pattern would fit, and ended up altering it down to at least the size 10 Slim. I also cut 3″ off the bottom, hemmed it 1 1/4″, and tapered the legs down to the ankles another 1.5″ in from the side seams. They had a cute, slightly loose-fitting cut before, but I wanted more of slim pant look.
And my little buddy Theo photo-bombed all my pics so I let him. It’s so fun to spend our days together, he’s an absolute angel (95% of the time!).
The welt pockets on the back are fake, so that would be a nice skill to learn and make them real. I like the way the pattern fits in the back.
I wore my Blueberry Sprinkles Top today too.
I used a golden metal zipper.
And this gorgeous Tiffany blue satin and pink hem lace and bias tape, all from my Grandma’s Stash, for the pockets and inside details. This pattern had neat little tips to make your sewing more professional, like the tab-enclosed zipper and the pocket facings and edgings. I liked using it and want to make more, including some bright colors, floral, and even brocade. SO much sewing to do!
