Here’s another beauty made from some fabric gifted me by my mother-in-law recently, a delicious blueberry-blue scuba knit! Perfect for me to try the whole off-the-shoulder thing with Simplicity 1613, which is a simple pattern and not too much of a commitment! I used View D but without the shoulder straps or the sleeves, or if you like, View E without the front gather.
Verdict? I love the look! It’s not too sexy (I hope!) since I wore it to church today, but I kept my hair over my shoulders the whole time. And I had to wear my lovely blue floral midi skirt again, I love it so much.
This pattern uses a casing for elastic around the shoulders to keep the shirt in place. You can kind of see it in some photos, but I don’t mind. I felt secure and I wore a strapless bra that I like anyway.
But where’s something that no one is talking about when I see people wearing this trend: you are constantly readjusting it! Either that or you have Barbie-arms all day and just never lift your hands above your shoulders!
