Sure Curator Sheath Dress in Daffodil (Vogue 8667)

Here’s another big check off for my 2017 sewing goals: a yellow sheath dress with pockets. In fact, I had this pattern already (with an image of the same view in yellow on the pattern envelope even!) and I was able to almost exactly recreate my Pinspiration image, which comes from the Escada Resort 2017 collection.

I’ve noticed that my Grandma didn’t have much yellow in her fabric collection, so I ordered this fabulous buttercup yellow stretch sateen from Mood Fabrics for this dress. I did use some pink stretch silky fabric for the lining from her stash though.

As with all the Vogue patterns I’ve used, this one is excellently drafted. I like how the lining was sewn into the slit. I sewed the size 12 from the waist down and the size 10 on the bust and shoulders. The fit was perfect on me and Louise, who helped me a lot for the fitting!

There was a ton of hand-sewing on the inside of this dress, but it was worth it. I am also working harder to make my projects more professional, so I even sewed my hook-and-eyes on with the knot loops that my RTW dresses have.

I named the color of this dress after my favorite happy flower, the daffodil! This dress makes me happy too, so it’s a good fit.
