This Halloween (actually this entire autumn season!) has been so different for me since I closed my Etsy store. I have such a weight off my shoulders. I can enjoy my weekends and the beautiful Colorado colors, I can spend time with my family and not have a nagging sense of guilt for not working on orders, I can sleep a full night without feeling anxious. And I can put my creative energies toward my kids and sew them the costumes of their dreams!
Evelyn wanted to be a genie this year, which I thought was a fantastic idea! I already had everything I needed, surprisingly, except for 18 (!) yards of the silver rickrack for the panels on the harem pants. Luckily, that was very cheap at $.39/yard at Mill Outlet. I used Simplicity 3626 in a size 8 for her, and the fit was spot on.
Also, fun fact: the pants on this pattern use a side zip! Who knew?! I certainly didn’t, even though this was my Jasmine pattern for my Etsy store for years! I just always whipped them up without ever reading the directions, because I didn’t add the sheer panels and I figured the elastic in the back was enough. But wow, that side zip is a nice feature and Evelyn could get the pants on so much easier! One should always read the directions…
I made a nude-colored undershirt for her for warmth and modesty, but she ended up taking it off later in the day when she got hot. Still, I liked having it available.
Take note of the headband: I did not make this.
It’s a throw-back to the last time Evelyn was a lavender genie:
She was only 18 months! So cute, right?!
