I found this awesome teal sweater material one of the many boxes of fabric my Mom gave me from my Grandmother’s stash, and while I have never sewed with that kind of fabric before, I thought it would be fun to make a dress out of it. This pattern from McCall’s is super simple for knits so I gave it a try. It took a couple hours one Sunday during Family Nap Time, and looks pretty good!
The fabric is just slightly itchy, being wool (I think), but not too bad. I think, if I make this pattern again, I will not cross over the bodice pieces quite so far. It’s modest here but flattens me too much. I need to drop the waistline too. The ribbon bow at the back is a fun addition, but I may leave that off. It was supposed to be fabric ties, but turning that long and narrow of a piece was nearly impossible, so I gave up and used this matching ribbon I also found in Grandma’s Horde of Wonders.
I wore this outfit for our date night tonight, with my thrifted leather boots ($6) and thrifted leather jacket (Christmas gift from Lord Herndon), and my handmade pleather belt. Pretty hot stuff!
