ladyherndon Saw That, Sew This

So my in-laws are moving back to Colorado Springs this summer after living on the far western edge of the state for a while. We are so excited that they will be closer and are even looking at houses in our area!

We are storing some of their stuff to make selling their house easier, and as we were unloading it this weekend Beth gave me a tub of fabric that she no longer wanted as she doesn’t sew for herself much anymore. There some real gems inside! I can’t wait to make a dress out of a navy floral crepe de chine, but in the meantime, this similar crepe fabric immediately got cut up and sewn into a tank top mere days after receiving it. I love the pale peachy background and the brilliant colors of the flowers! I had to use some lightweight lining from my Grandma’s Stash so it wouldn’t be see-through, but now I don’t have to worry about what I wear under it.

I sewed the size 12, remembering how shirts have been tight across the shoulders when I sew the size 10. It fits perfectly and I love the relaxed shape. I can’t wait to wear it tucked into skirts too, especially a red knit high-low skirt that I have on my sewing horizon.

Close-up of the fabric bias strips and the beautiful bright flowers.

And wow, if I keep sewing this quickly and frequently I will more than double my me-made production from last year!
