Sculpture Garden Gala Midi Skirt (Simplicity 1099)

ladyherndon Saw That, Sew This

I know it’s cliche, but I’m all about the florals this spring, and I’m dying to wear florals and stripes! So here is another new creation that I made and finished last week from this gorgeous stretch twill that I nabbed on sale from Joann!

Inspired by this photo from Pinterest, right down to the kind of shoes!

I sewed the size 12, which was the exact finished waist measurement I needed. It’s a high-waisted skirt with pockets and a side zip. It’s actually part of a two-piece dress (another 2017 sewing goal accomplished!) that I will fully photograph soon.

This pattern was awesome. It’s sort of a quasi-circle skirt with several sections and a deep front and back pleat. The fabric is very sturdy or I would have lined it, but I don’t think it needs it.

Look at all the colors I can wear with it! And you can see the invisible zip tucked right near the side pocket.

Happiness for me today is wearing my new floral skirt with stripes and hanging out with my youngest in the sunshine of our Colorado spring weather. Not to mention a loving, indulgent husband who lets me treat myself to new fabric once in a while! Of course all the new fabric I want has flowers on it in some form.
